28 Feb Blog Decanter event at The Landmark
Last Saturday our School was present at the Decanter Wine Event at The Landmark Hotel in London to surprise many wine lovers with the aromas and textures from our bottles of extra virgin olive oil (EVOO).
Gathered to enjoy wines from all regions of Spain & Portugal, participants also discovered some of the finest olive oil produced in Spain and indeed the world. On this occasion the regions of Andalucia, Valencia & Catalonia were chosen to show the richness of our country. Spain’s agriculture is about olive oil and wines. Our arbequinas, picual, hojiblanca, serrana and many others share tables with tempranillos, garnachas, shiraz &merlots and we wanted to share with you at the event.
All who tried them enjoyed the awarded oils we took along to promote our courses and tasting events, as much as the complementary olives, roasted almonds and manchego. Yes, you can pair manchego & other cheeses with extra virgin olive oil & a glass of wine!
There were plenty of questions and curiosity from the participants: what is intensity? How do you identify one variety from the other? Are all olive oils the same? What makes them special? Did I just sense tomato aromas and fresh green grass in that oil?
By joining our courses you’ll have the chance to learn lots about olive oil categories and classifications, the varieties, the regions and Designated Protected Areas, the history of olive oil, international competitions, the role of the professional tester and many more topics at our introductory & advanced courses held in Clapham North, south west London.
Our next event will be this coming Friday 9th March and we’ll be tasting EVOO from Slow Food movement producers amongst others. So join us for an evening of surprises and some Spanish tasty tapas afterwards for just £30 per person.
We enjoyed being at the Decanter event and you can keep in touch with us via our blog and newsletter, tasting events and courses. You can shop online as well via one of our partners’ distribution website.
Hope to see you soon. Hasta pronto!
