Our tasting session for 20th July is dedicated to the best extra virgin olive oils from Spain for this current  2017/2018 harvest .

Spain is the largest producer of Olive Oil in the Mediterranean area but it is now also earning reputation for it’s high quality oils.

Every year the Spanish Agriculture Ministry arranges a competition for producers to become qualified as the best in the country.

This competition is very prestigious and its methodology is very rigorous. The judges have a wealth of experience and knowledge tasting extra virgin olive oils.

This year the oils were awarded by category as follows:

Green fruitiness  Joint first Almazaras de la Subbetica (Parque Oliva Serie Oro) and Finca la Torre (Seleccion Hojiblanca).

Green sweet Aceites Melgarejo (Composition)

Ripe fruitiness Casas de Hualdo (Arbequina)
