Tasting Spanish extra virgin olive oil and pairing with cheese

Our next extra virgin olive oil tasting session will be devoted to the 4 most largely produced olive varieties in Spain: Arbequina, Cornicabra, Hojiblanca and Picual. These are four fantastic varieties that will satisfy even the most demanding palate.

Spanish extra virgin olive oils for tasting

Arbequina: suited for those who enjoy smooth, almost sweet, flavours, with an enveloping texture and fruity notes.

Cornicabra:  ideal for those who fancy oils with a personality

Hojiblanca: for those who appreciate herbaceous notes and who want a touch of spice in their lives.

Picual: aimed at those who enjoy oils with green and rustic fragrances.

All the oils are from this harvest 2017/18, just produced between October/November.

Spanish cheese to pair with the oils

At the end of the session, we will match all 4 oils with 4 Spanish cheese varieties selected for the occasion.

  • Manchego: made from pasteurised sheep’s milk.
  • Blau del Mar: blue cheese made from pasteurised cow’s milk.
  • Bunch: made from unpasteurised goat’s milk.
  • Torta de cabra: made from unpasteurised goat’s milk.
